I love browsing online and “shopping” – AKA I fill the cart with everything I want and then close the browser and don’t actually purchase anything. Sigh. However, I do usually bookmark the pages of the stuff I like and half the time when I go back through this “wish list” lots of the items are no longer available. Which I guess is a good thing, at least for my wallet anyways.
My most recent browse & bookmark session was on Aldo – specifically accessories. I love bundling up with scarves in the Fall/Winter time and like having not only an assortment of colours & prints but a variety of styles as well. For example; even if I have a circle scarf in a dark green, I feel the need to also have a regular scarf in the same colour. But I’m sure most girls do this, right? And I immediately fell in love with this bag as soon as I saw it. The structure of it and gold buckle detail helps make the bag. Although I prefer it in the black (but I don’t really need another black bag) the bone is also a great neutral tone and can transition well into the Springtime!
These are the few items that are currently on my wish list:
I went to try on wedding dresses again today with my mom and it kind of went how I thought it would. It did re-confirm that one of the 2 I really liked from a few weekends ago was my dress, however it also added a 3rd into the mix. It really is such a difficult decision, especially because the dresses are all so pretty. Although I didn’t like as many of the options at this store today compared to the other one, I did really really like one of the dresses – especially when I was all “jacked” up. One thing I have learned though is that a sparkly beaded belt is definitely a must have to wear with whichever dress I do end up choosing!
On that note of must haves, I’ve recently made a mini list of items in my head that I want to purchase for this Fall/Winter season. Even though my closet is beyond full and I don’t really need anything new these items can be considered as staples in your wardrobe. Any pair of denim is very versatile so you can’t go wrong there and the camel coat is not only a classic piece but it’s a neutral colour. As for the taupe booties, it’s really just to add another pair into the mix.
This is my last week working at the location I’m currently at and then I get to enjoy a wonderful 10 days off with my fiance before starting at a brand new location opening up in the Fraser Valley! So of course I had to bake one last batch of cupcakes for my store. I’m obsessed with all things pumpkin flavoured in the Fall and have been anxious to try a pumpkin cupcake recipe. After looking at a couple recipes on Google I settled upon this one, with a few substitutions – I used almond milk instead of buttermilk & whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour. Another little change I made to the recipe was that I added a cream cheese filling in the center. I bought a package of cream cheese in the brick like shape and cut it into little cubes which I then inserted into each cupcake before putting them into the oven. I topped them with cream cheese icing and sprinkled them with pumpkin pie spice.
Obviously I had to taste one after they were finished and I have to say they turned out great! And they were a big hit at work today as well which was the most important thing.
It’s going to be kind of a bitter sweet goodbye this Friday – I’ve worked at this location for 4 & a half years and worked my way from a seasonal position to my current role as Visual Merchandise Manager. Transferring to another store is a long overdue change but I’ve been patiently waiting for more locations to open up on my side of the bridge(s). I’m very much looking forward to the new opportunities that will come my way and that I get to do my 4th store opening with the company!
Fall is officially here!! This is my favourite season of the year, it means cozy oversized sweaters with leggings, Hunter rain boots and a nice chunky scarf. And one can’t forget thanksgiving, pumpkin flavoured everything, halloween and mine and Stephanie’s birthday’s! The change in the seasons also means a new step in my life as I officially completed my Interior Design Degree yesterday! I am very excited and happy about what the future holds for me but I am also a little nervous, but that’s normal right?
Fall is all about the change in the weather and your wardrobe, not your house decor, don’t we all wish we were rich enough to change our entire spaces every season? But you could easily change up you accessories around your house. I am talking nice fluffy pillows, warm throws to curl up with by the fire and adding some gold accents. I also like buying those little baby orange and white pumpkins and putting them around my house. Here are a few decor ideas to add into your space:
There are many trends for this upcoming Fall season but this is the last one of my Fall Trends posts! I say “upcoming” because it hasn’t quite started, even though the first official day of Fall is 2 days away. The weather has definitely started to change. When I’m getting dressed for work in the morning (which is at like 6am) it’s cold & cloudy but by mid afternoon it becomes warm & sunny. What the heck?! Oh right, this is Vancouver.
A trend that I love for Fall are pretty jewel tones like Teal & Berry/Oxblood! I actually just purchased a teal blouse & a berry long sleeve midi dress from H&M (on a side note, I’m become slightly obsessed with dresses & skirts in a midi length). It also happens that teal is one of my favourite colours – my #1 fav is purple. These colours are the perfect way to add that pop of colour to your Fall wardrobe which usually consists of neutrals like black, cognac & creme. They can also be worn all year round which is a great reason to pick up something in one of these fabulous colours!
A couple years ago I purchased a red plaid button down from Garage and was obsessed with it. Who knew that this pattern would become a highly coveted item! Unfortunately, either due to fit or my ever quick changing mind, I got rid of said shirt. Normally when I get rid of clothes (either selling them to friends, donating them or “recycling” them at H&M) I never miss anything but this shirt is a first. So I was on the hunt again for the perfect flannel and recently purchased the one from Garage pictured below. From the runway, plaid has been spotted in some of the Fall 2013 shows like Versace, Moschino, Suno and Fausto Puglisi. They come in a variety of colours & plaids and are so versatile with styling. You can wear them buttoned up or unbuttoned with ANY kind of bottom (skirt, shorts, leggings, jeans) or even with a maxi dress as a kind of “jacket”. Another common way to style it is to rock it old school – tied around your waist. Yes, really. Seeing this look reminds me of grunge fashion & the 90’s. I had to order mine online because they were sold out in stores at the time so I’m anxiously awaiting its arrival! I can’t wait to wear it tied around my waist with a tank and a black maxi skirt.
Now is the time of year to snag that perfect new coat for Fall. However, there’s a bit of a twist to the trend this season: the colour. Normally when we see pastels we think of Spring time, like Easter. It’s been spotted on various runway shows like Celine, Proenza Schouler, Emilio Pucci, Louis Vuitton & Gucci to name a few. The most popular colour being seen is pink but there’s also yellow, blue & lavender. Seriously, just screams Easter right?
Anyways, I don’t think I’ll be buying into this particular trend this season simply because I personally don’t like to wear pastels. I rarely ever wear pink and if I do it has to be a dark pink. On the contrary though I think that these coats are a fun & girlie piece that you can challenge yourself with to see how many ways it can be styled. This trend seems to be taking it’s sweet time to hit the sites online but here are a few pretty pink coats I’ve come across!
Seeing as how it is currently cold & rainy out, it seems fitting to start posting about fall fashion. After I did my outfit post on my top with leather sleeves, I took a browse online to find a variety of items with leather details in different ways. I’m still on the hunt though for a sweater with full faux leather sleeves but hopefully I won’t have to search for too long if this weather keeps up! Seems like I’m going to start bringing out my fall wardrobe sooner than later. Which, I can’t really complain about because as much as I love the sun & summertime, Fall fashion is by far my favourite season. I love cozy knits, boots, dresses + tights and especially the colour palette. Also the oncoming of Fall means 2 things: Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back at Starbucks (heaven in a cup – seriously) AND that my birthday month is getting closer!
I hope everyone enjoys this last weekend of Summer before back to school, which conveniently is a long weekend. Nicole and I will be off to Osoyoos for our friends wedding, checking out wineries & hopefully soaking up some sun. After working so hard at work these last two weeks, I’m definitely in need of this mini vacay!
