One of the easiest places to change up some decor is a side table or coffee table. My bedside table is an example of one of those things that is always changing. The table it self is an old side table I have since painted that matches my Tiffany’s Inspired Dresser.
I don’t like having too much clutter on my table because my laptop is usually on it. I am one of those people who spends an hour on the computer before going to bed (bad habit), so it’s regular home is on my side table. I also currently have 3 small notebooks that haven’t been used yet sitting there. The blue ones are from Target and the pink one is from Indigo. I always keep some kind of lipgloss (I like to put some on before bed) and moisturizer for quick access if I’m lounging in bed and don’t feel like getting up. I usually also keep my Michael Kors watch on my bedside, mainly because I don’t want to lose it. There is also a little pink bow ring that has been sitting there for the past month.
As I said before this is something that is always changing for me and there really is no wrong way to do it. I am thinking I need to move the notebooks and add some white mini pumpkins soon! Good thing I will be checking out the pumpkin patch this weekend!
I am currently lounging in bed with a tea in hand, with the sunshine is trying to come through my shut blinds. This is the life of someone who is just finished school and is looking for a job. Sound glamorous? Before I officially start my day of job hunting, running errands and going to the gym I thought I would write a quick post :-). Now I am clearly not having any babies anytime soon but I do have many friends with little ones and friends that are currently pregnant and there is just something so sweet about designing a nursery! This is going to be the babies first room and it is important to do it right. I personally love the idea of using neutral paint colours and then adding in the pinks and blues in the furniture and accessories. This way it is easy to change the look of the room in the future, it is good if you end up not staying in that current house – you won’t be scaring away potential buyers with a bright pink room and if you are not finding out the sex of the child you don’t have to guess if you should be painting it blue or pink or just settling with yellow. I love browsing Pinterest for some inspiration! Here are some of my favourites that I came across…
Happy September! I can’t believe that summer is just about over, the only good thing about this is that I graduate at the end of the month! Which means September will be a VERY busy month for me. I recently came home the other day from two of my best friends wedding and I am ready to buckle down and start busting my ass to finish! But first I will write a quick post about my love for Scandinavian design.
What I love about Scandinavian design is the neutral hues, comfy and interesting textures and fabrics, clean lines and warm features. It is functional, minimal and simplistic. When I finally get my own place I can picture this style being a big part of my home. Here are some great inspirational pictures of some Scandinavian interiors!
A couple of years ago I moved back into my parents house because my boyfriend and I were both going to be students. Obviously it isn’t something you want to do when you are in your early 20’s but I am close to my family so it wasn’t that bad – what was bad was my bedroom. Last time it was painted was in 10th grade and it was a bright electric blue and teal. I clearly grew out of this room a long time ago, I didn’t like my bed, my decor, my furniture and the list goes on.
So I took everything out to make it more my style. I painted the room Bunny Grey from Benjamin Moore, bought a new comforter from West Elm and took out furniture that wasn’t needed. I thought I would be able to have all my clothing in my closet – of course it didn’t all fit. Being on a tight budget there was no way I could afford anything that I liked, and my old dresser didn’t match in my new and improved room. So I decided to paint it. I searched on Pinterest for inspiration, finding a few things I liked. I was thinking blue, my favourite colour, and mint was also popular and so I decided to go with something in that color range. And that when a light bulb went off in my head!! Tiffany’s!!
What girl doesn’t like Tiffany’s and their iconic blue? So I went to Benjamin Moore and found a color that was the closest to Tiffany Blue. (For anyone interested in using the color it is Tropicana Cabana #2048-50)
After LOTS of sanding, Priming and painting. I was just about done. But I had to choose some new knobs or handles. Since this was a Tiffany’s inspired dresser what would be better than some shiny crystal looking knobs! I found some great ones at Home Depot, and all I had to do was put them on and then my job would be complete!!
I accessorized my new dresser with a few of my favorite books and cook books. I used my Michael Kors watch boxes as bookends – filled with change so they actually worked! Then I have my baby shoes just on top of some of the books.
This is the completed look! It even matches my yoga mat perfectly!!
