For the past 10 weeks I have been following a meal plan that was put together by my bootcamp trainer (only 1 week to go!) The first month I pretty much followed it exactly, with the odd cheat asides from Saturday being a cheat day. Unfortunately October wasn’t as good of a month for me due to going away, Thanksgiving, my birthday and a busy work schedule. Since I was attending my bootcamp 3 nights a week though I didn’t feel that guilty about my bad eating habits and promised to get back on track for November.
Sadly, I feel like I was even worse this month; I have a really big sweet tooth which leads to major cravings. It doesn’t help either that we have both a Tim Hortons and a Starbucks by my work so I’ve been buying lots of treats, coffees & muffins. There’s nothing wrong with indulging sometimes but it can be done in a healthier way. There are tons of recipes online and on Pinterest that are quick, easy & even require minimal ingredients. With the holidays coming up it’s always hard not to over indulge but these recipes will help you feel less guilty about eating that extra one or two, so enjoy!
A couple years ago I purchased a red plaid button down from Garage and was obsessed with it. Who knew that this pattern would become a highly coveted item! Unfortunately, either due to fit or my ever quick changing mind, I got rid of said shirt. Normally when I get rid of clothes (either selling them to friends, donating them or “recycling” them at H&M) I never miss anything but this shirt is a first. So I was on the hunt again for the perfect flannel and recently purchased the one from Garage pictured below. From the runway, plaid has been spotted in some of the Fall 2013 shows like Versace, Moschino, Suno and Fausto Puglisi. They come in a variety of colours & plaids and are so versatile with styling. You can wear them buttoned up or unbuttoned with ANY kind of bottom (skirt, shorts, leggings, jeans) or even with a maxi dress as a kind of “jacket”. Another common way to style it is to rock it old school – tied around your waist. Yes, really. Seeing this look reminds me of grunge fashion & the 90’s. I had to order mine online because they were sold out in stores at the time so I’m anxiously awaiting its arrival! I can’t wait to wear it tied around my waist with a tank and a black maxi skirt.
A couple of years ago I moved back into my parents house because my boyfriend and I were both going to be students. Obviously it isn’t something you want to do when you are in your early 20’s but I am close to my family so it wasn’t that bad – what was bad was my bedroom. Last time it was painted was in 10th grade and it was a bright electric blue and teal. I clearly grew out of this room a long time ago, I didn’t like my bed, my decor, my furniture and the list goes on.
So I took everything out to make it more my style. I painted the room Bunny Grey from Benjamin Moore, bought a new comforter from West Elm and took out furniture that wasn’t needed. I thought I would be able to have all my clothing in my closet – of course it didn’t all fit. Being on a tight budget there was no way I could afford anything that I liked, and my old dresser didn’t match in my new and improved room. So I decided to paint it. I searched on Pinterest for inspiration, finding a few things I liked. I was thinking blue, my favourite colour, and mint was also popular and so I decided to go with something in that color range. And that when a light bulb went off in my head!! Tiffany’s!!
What girl doesn’t like Tiffany’s and their iconic blue? So I went to Benjamin Moore and found a color that was the closest to Tiffany Blue. (For anyone interested in using the color it is Tropicana Cabana #2048-50)
After LOTS of sanding, Priming and painting. I was just about done. But I had to choose some new knobs or handles. Since this was a Tiffany’s inspired dresser what would be better than some shiny crystal looking knobs! I found some great ones at Home Depot, and all I had to do was put them on and then my job would be complete!!
I accessorized my new dresser with a few of my favorite books and cook books. I used my Michael Kors watch boxes as bookends – filled with change so they actually worked! Then I have my baby shoes just on top of some of the books.
This is the completed look! It even matches my yoga mat perfectly!!
